Mission Impossible : Ghost Protocol is the latest (and 4th) offering of the popular action movie series Mission: Impossible. Starring Tom Cruise, who reprises his role as the main protagonist - Agent Ethan Hunt.

Summary:

In this 4th installment of the popular Mission: Impossible franchise, Ethan Hunt and his team is assigned to discover the secret Moscow Kremlin archives to gather vital information about a person code-named "Cobalt". Half-way thru their mission, the team is unprepared for the counter attack of a dangerous terrorist named Hendricks, who has an access to Russian nuclear codes and is planning to strike United States.

When things turned horribly wrong and without any back-up, Ethan and his team are forced to continue the mission to find Hendricks and to stop him from starting a nuclear war.

With great movie reviews (93% Tomatometer on Rotten Tomatoes, and 7.9/10 on IMDB), it's a sign that this is a must see action movie of the year.

This time, he wants a new process of planting a false memory into his competitions heads; which is called Inception. Everyone says that this "inception" can't be done and that it's impossible, however Cobb’s character knows that it can possibly be done – but no certainty that it will be successful.

The film is about becoming of a real man. That fighting is a way of standing out against several other members of the species called men. Its a fact the Fight Club is a violent film but there is a purpose for the brutal scenes. It was the most talked about aspect of the movie because of the graphic portrayal of violence, and it is somehow being linked to the controversies of A Clockwork Orange by Stanley Kubrick.

The depth of the film is truly incredible. Edward Norton is outstanding in this film and Brad Pitt will always be remembered as Tyler Durden.

He take the charge of the newly-built task force against the raging drug trafficking in the cities of New Jersey and New York.

As the drug-related crimes rises and as the police task force seeks the right timing to caught the man behind the rampant drug trafficking, Lucas and Roberts paths will become intertwined, as destined to be - where only one can come out on top.

American Gangster features the interesting personalities of the men of the opposite sides of the law and it tackles the issue of corruption and crime. Ridley Scott magnificently directed this gangster movie (this is the best movie so far of 2007) and the cast, Washington and Crowe give depth with their roles and acted brilliantly here.

Quentin Tarantino just got out of the action movie standards by creating an unusual form of film that grabbed the attention of the action movie fanatics. It's a bloody and violent movie but the style, the stunts and the over-all package are truly remarkable.

Pointbreak (1991) is an action adventure movie that focused on extreme sports like sky diving and surfing.

The movie is about Johnny Utah (Keanu Reeves), an undercover FBI agent assigned to investigate a group of bank robbers known as the "Ex-Presidents". The Ex-Presidents are hard to get caught because they only deal in cash and never leave clues about their activities. He suspects that there's a connection between the "Ex-Presidents" and the local surfers in the coastal area of Los Angeles after his partner, Pappas gave him some information about the suspicious group of surfers.

Point Break has its original action sequences, a tight plot and a bunch of Hollywood's well-known actors. Point Break is a very stylish action movie with amazing surfing and sky-diving stunts plus a great chase scene and a thrilling parachute-less jump as its highlight.

It is one great achievement for Kathryn Bigelow as a woman who handled the action and suspense scenes with expertise. The movie deserves to be recognized as one of the best action movies of the 90s along with Die Hard, Speed and others.

Hard Boiled excels in action because of its intensity. Director John Woo uses his slow-motion trademark in gun-battle scenes, impressive action stunts and choreography and a good character development as the movie progresses.

The story setting was in 1943 during World War II when the offensive forces of U.S. Army were sent into the South Pacific Island to break the last resistance of the Japanese troops. A strong bond among the US soldiers were formed as they were fighting for the survival of oneself and his fellow men against the Asian counter force.

Director Terrence Malick excellently illustrated the tension and fear of the soldiers and the chaos of war itself. No single character stands above the rest, he gives an emphasis for the important characters thus, creating a connection between the movie characters and the audience.

This action-packed movie maintains a feeling of fear and tension all throughout with gun-fighting, explosions and hair-raising sight of the Predator.

After the success of the Predator movie (and the character as well), having a gross revenue of $60,000,000 in United States, sequels of this movie have been made. These are Predator 2 (1990) and Alien vs. Predator (2004).

Total Recall is a fascinating action movie with a few twists and unpredictable plot. A movie full of action and violence, it is highly recommended for the action movie fanatics.

The Omni Consumer Products (OCP) that runs Detroit Police Department, offers a new solution against the well-armed criminals in the city by building an almost inexterminable ED 209 robot combining the body of Murphy with the high tech gadgets and weaponry to dispatch the city criminals. The scientists rewires Murphy's brains with computer chips for communication control and self-organization system that blocks up his memories. However, his former partner, Officer Lewis recognized RoboCop's body that started to reveal his true identity.

RoboCop film has a well-written plot and action-packed stunts, a very fitting entertainment for the action movie aficionados.

It's also entertaining that there's a heart breaking scene in this movie where RoboCop visits his former house without the chance of getting back what he had left before.

This may be the first high-profile movie directed by Verhoeven but it was directed well with a sense of smooth style and appeal that made RoboCop a great action movie. By its good remarks, it is considered as one of the best action movies of its genre and it was followed by movie sequels and RoboCop TV series.

The most exciting part of the movie is when Harry tries to track down the bomb of the terrorists. While the escape scene on the bridge that connects Florida to the mainland is one of the best shot and the most thrilling part in the movie.

True Lies contain the elements of action, comedy and political thriller rolled into one pleasing entertainment movie. It's an old-fashioned yet high-tech action movie with fresh ideas to deliver the excitement for the breath-taking scenes.

It has a great action stunts that was often executed by Schwarzenegger and Curtis themselves and it has an expensive special effects having a production cost of approximately $120 million.

There is a science fiction element on each movie and the technology helped the cyborg characters to look authentic. The design of the cyborgs seem very realistic and convincing. The special effects and action sequences of the Terminator movies stands out. The theme is presented well, having the human qualities in each film, projecting what's more important than anything else.

The Terminator series are those that can be considered as classic movies...movies that never grow old. Simply one of the best action movies ever made.

This action movie is about a criminal and an agent of FBI, that swap faces and identities.

Face Off (1997) is an action movie with rare concepts and radical ideas loaded with action and emotional aspect of a hero and a villain. A best action movie paired with the best actors in Hollywood.

Face Off is about Sean Archer (played by John Travolta), an FBI terrorism expert whose passion is to bring down Castor Troy (played by Nicolas Cage), a terrorist that planted a bomb in Los Angeles area and also the one who killed his son in one of their encounters.

Years passed when Archer founds out that Troy had a bomb hidden somewhere in LA and he is in comatose. He then decided to undergo facial surgery, swapping Troy's facial features to his own forgetting the consequences that might happen. That way, Archer (as Troy) would try to locate the bomb through Troy's brother Pollux (played by Alessandro Nivola) whose in prison. Things get complicated when Troy recovered from his coma and found out that his face was replaced by Archer's. Now the terrorist assumes the role of the FBI agent and vice versa.

For an action movie, Face Off set out an impressive action sequences. The direction of John Woo in the movie's breathtaking scenes are remarkable. He used slow motion style that eventually enhances the effectiveness of the scenes. Aside from the turbulent action scenes in the movie, its emotional aspect is also impressive.

Considered as one of the best action movies ever made, and the prototype of a modern action film, Die Hard set a new standard for the genre. Die Hard is about John McClane of NYPD and his mission against crime and terrorists.

Die Hard movies (stars Bruce Willis) has four series: Die hard 1 (1988), Die Hard 2: Die Harder (1990), Die Hard with a Vengeance (1995), and the recent Live Free or Die Hard (2007).

All of the series is about John McClane and the difficult situations faced by a crime fighter. His action adventure starts from fighting the German terrorists in a high rise office building, to protecting the travelers in a major international airport invaded by a rebellious group of military commandos, then solving dangerous puzzle to save New York City from the hands of a revenging German terrorist he knocked down before, and the recent one where he had a battle with a group of internet hackers whose intention is to take down all the computer and technological structures (traffic control system, etc.) that supports the economy of the United States.

Every aspect in the movie is remarkable...the story, the acting, the direction, the production and of course, the impressive action scenes and pyrotechnics. Over-all it's really one of the best action movies in Hollywood.

The lead character- John McClane is one of the most distinguished action hero in Hollywood movies. Why? Because he fights without shoes, socks, or a regular shirt, armed only with a Beretta 92F pistol, and he is famous for this tagline: "Yippee-Ki-Yay Mo****Fu****".

The movie portrays the sacrificial service of the brave soldiers risking their lives to save and defend one another, and the survival depends on doing the very best that they could do - better than taking chances...

Kids and the young-at-hearts are very much hooked on it since it has a variety of robot design that transforms into various vehicles. It gained much popularity when the Transformers Generation 1 animated TV series was released on the same year.

As time passed by, the Transformers transformed from a collection of action figures to cartoons, then started to be featured in comics and video games. It's a dream for those who loved these robots unconditionally (specifically the Autobots) to see these popular characters in full screen. When it was announced that the Transformers will be featured in a full-length live action movie (2007), it is expected that the Transformers fanatics will increase its numbers- as the most awaited and expected to be one of the best action movies sets-off the cinemas world-wide.

The live action movie Transformers is directed by Michael Bay (who is known more for intense action sequences) and produced by equally popular producer Steven Spielberg. The movie stars Shia LaBeouf as Sam Witwicky, who has the data that locate Allspark, an important object being the center of the war between the heroic Autobots and the evil Decepticons. Other casts of the movie are Megan Fox, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, Jon Voight, John Turturro, and Hugo Weaving(voice of Megatron) and Peter Cullen (voice of Optimus Prime).

As for the other action movies, there's always a battle between good and evil. Aside from the clash between the Autobots (Optimus Prime as the head robot) against the evil Decepticons (Megatron as their leader), Transformers movie has a combination of a light comedy and action in the movie that made it more appealing to the audience. Autobots are interacting with the cast in the movie and it's like for real (CGI or Computer-generated imagery is probably the secret of designing those robots). The fight scenes between the Autobots and Decepticons is the highlight of this action-packed movie and everybody is astounded by what they see on screen. The battle between the Autobots and Decepticons will leave viewers drained but cheering.

Transformers is an action film, but surprisingly has a touching and uplifting elements. The movie isn't just about the robots, it's also about being brave to save the humanity against the dark forces. That may be the reasons why I consider it as one of the best action movies of all time.
